What a nice surprise--I went outside this morning and saw my crocus blooming! I had been seeing the daffodils already, but now lots of bulbs have popped up in the flower bed. We even had to mow this weekend...its feels like spring, but I know we have some cold weather left yet. I am REALLY looking forward to spring and digging in the dirt!!
We were sitting at the table tonight and I noticed Strawberry, Mr. Spock and Pumpkin sitting on the edge of the bar. I thought they looked like they were posing in the Sears Portrait Studio. LOL! So I had to get their picture, didn't I?
I am wondering again when I will ever finish those dolls....I do have them all stained, but I think Sissy is trying to take them over for her bed! She's hoping I will forget about them so she can keep her soft, fluffy pillows with faces....
Here are the recipes I've been bragging about. ha! These are definitely not diet foods!!
Oven Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
3-4 pounds chicken
1/4 c flour
1 t. paprika
1 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1/3 c butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 425. Wash chicken & pat dry. Put butter in a shallow pan (an iron skillet works well or a glass casserole dish) and melt in the oven while you are preparing the chicken. Combine flour, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Coat chicken with flour mixture, then arrange in the butter in a single layer. Bake for about 30 minutes, turn and bake 15 minutes longer, or until chicken is done.
Sweet Potato Casserole
3 c. sweet potatoes, cooked & mashed
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 stick butter
1 t. vanilla
Topping:
1 c.brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. flour
1 c. nuts
1 c. coconut
Mix first 6 ingredients and pour into well greased casserole dish. Cut butter into brown sugar & flour, then mix in nuts & coconut. Sprinkle over casserole and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Ahhhhhh, that last picture of Sissy is soooo sweet! Just want to give her a big old hug. Humm and the pictures of those handsome guys look like they've got something important planned.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for spring...cold here again today. I really can't complain cause my electric bill is low right now.
Zoe...the sad thing is that I am probably the only person who could give Sissy a hug. And that's if I'm lucky! She is scared of strangers and it took her a long time (years) before she would relax and just lie in my lap. You cannot hold her on your shoulder...she is a funny cat!
ReplyDeleteIts cold her again too. I surely was enjoying that warm weather!! It won't be long until we think its too hot, will it?
