Introducing Rudy the Rabbit!

Ebaylogo2006_5

I finally finished all those dolls....what a huge pile of dolls I have now! They are all tagged and ready for my show. And I have several new ones on my site. Here are just a few photos....got to
my website to see all the new ones!

Candacecloseup This is Candace...one of my favorites! I needlesculpted her nose & eyebrows and painted her eyes, mouth & freckles. I had her finished for a few days, then I decided she needed a little more....something. So I took off to wal-mart to buy all kinds of trims & ribbons. I guess I got carried away, but they were having a great sale. I know the lady working there must have thougth I was crazy when I brought a big armload of trims to be cut....then went back for more. She started out as a blonde, then I put straight black hair....now this strawberry blonde seems to be the perfect fit!!

Rudyrabbit2 This is Rudy...my other favorite. I just love the expression on his face!! I made him from muslin, painted him, and used antiquing medium over all that, mixed with some vanilla flavoring. I baked him to dry and the whole house smelled so good! All my new dolls have lots of trim & bright, Spring colors. I guess my style is changing somewhat....I hope that is a good thing! :) I've stocked up on paint & fabrics in teals, pinks, whites & purples. I guess when Halloween & Christmas time comes around I'll be ready for those darker colors I have stashed away.

220231_1144875815 What have the kitties been into, you ask? Not too much....Sweet Pea brought me a pair of red gloves tonight. He loves to pile up socks and gloves. And if he wants in the room with you where the door is closed he will bring you one or the other and cry for you to open the door. When you do, he will drop your socks or gloves at your feet and run in. And how could you turn down a kitty this sweet? He's been with me since he was 1 day old! So just imagine how spoiled he is! He fit in the palm of my hand the day I brought him home. Now he's a big ol' boy!

Happyeaster Here is my first free pattern! Click on the photo on the left to get the free pattern! All I ask is if you use the pattern, give me credit. You can use it as a stitchery, painting, or even to make some little eggs as bowl fillers or for your dolls to hold! I'd love to see photos of what you do with the pattern.

I donated a pattern for the contest at Grapevine Hollow too--a pattern for a heart make-do. There are only a few days left, so hurry to http://www.grapevinehollow.com to enter. Click on the News/contest button and follow the instructions.

Good night for now!

I have some new patterns....

I am sitting her at work....yes, I do have a "real" job, but its only 2 hours a day! My Momma has to pick up my nephew so I fill in while she is gone. Sometimes its pretty quiet & I get pretty bored! So today I am reading a doll pattern book and, as usual, getting more & more ideas that I won't have time to ever do!! :)

Santaelves I did put a some new patterns on my website, www.thecatspyjamas.com I made a Santa & his elves pattern from the Flamingo set I did a couple of months ago. Click on the photo to get a bigger picture. I love how the elves turned out with their freckles and pink feathery house shoes!! I am leaning more towards the spring colors lately--pink, teal, white, green....I would love to have a whole booth full of those colors by my show in March, but I don't know if I can get that much done by then. But I can picture it now....all spring colors & glitter....bunnies & angels. I guess I better get to work!!

Old Snowman is the other new pattern. I watched Christmas with the Kranks before Christmas and saw that big Snowman the guy had to put on his roof....Oldsnowman did you notice the snowman had a button nose? Well, I did! So that's what made me think to put that big ol' button on his nose. The song "Frosty the Snowman" says "with a corn cob pipe and a button nose". I never even thought of it, I just always made my snowmen with carrot noses. But here's a new way!

One night last week I got out my paperclay and went crazy making figures and doll heads! They're all finished now and need finishing touches....will add some pictures of some later on. I love working with paperclay. I don't know why I don't do it more often!

Believe it or not, the kitties have been quiet. I think it has been so cold all they want to do is snuggle in front of the fireplace! They only get to do that when I'm in the room now since the incident with the flaming tail!! My Daddy saw a solid white cat at the vet's office today and thought I should go get it. I guess he thinks I collect white cats now!

I did it!

Ebaylogo2006_2

I finally did it! I finally have a blog! :)

I guess I should start off by telling you a little about myself....I live in Alabama! I have lived here all of my life except one year. (I try to forget that year!) I never want to live anywhere else, unless I could move closer to my Momma & Daddy. Even though I'm only ½ hour away, its still too far! I'm married with no kids, but a house full of kitties. Every time I say I can't have another cat, another one comes along and adopts me! Here's the latest addition to my family, Pumpkin. Punkin My cats are always getting into some kind of mischief. For example, tonight I was working on some paperclay designs. I happened to notice a lot of commotion out of the corner of my eye. I looked up and Pumpkin's tail was in flames!! I screamed, which scared him more, he ran and the fire went out. Apparently he just got his tail too close to the fireplace!! It scared me a lot more than it did him and I will probably have nightmares about my cats being on fire now!

Zelda_1I'm sure you will hear more about my cats' adventures later on....when I'm not putting out fires and feeding my cats, I design dolls & patterns and website graphics. Sometimes I paint, make jewelry, purses or other stuff. But mostly I design dolls & patterns. Right now I'm getting ready for Cottontail Village in March (in Birmingham, AL) so I have cloth dolls, paper mache heads and figures all over the place!! (As usual, half of the paper mache heads end up being moons!) I just finished a new doll from a pattern by elinor peace bailey ....isn't she a hoot??? I rarely get time to use other designers' patterns. I want to do more of elinor's!

I guess that is enough about me for now....I will try to list some free tutorials or patterns soon and share some sneak peeks of some of my new designs!

'Bye for now!
